    Global Frameworks

    Sustainable Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 global objectives established by the United Nations in 2015 to address pressing social, economic, and environmental challenges by 2030. They aim to eradicate poverty, ensure quality education, achieve gender equality, promote sustainable economic growth, and combat climate change, among other goals. Each goal is interconnected, emphasizing the need for a holistic approach to development. The SDGs encourage collaboration among governments, businesses, and civil society to create a more equitable and sustainable world for all. Achieving these goals requires concerted efforts and innovative solutions across all sectors.

Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR)

The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 (Sendai Framework) was the first major agreement of the post-2015 development agenda and provides Member States with concrete actions to protect development gains from the risk of disaster, with the goal to prevent new and reduce existing disaster risk. It was adopted on 18 March 2015.

Endorsed by the UN General Assembly following the 2015 Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (WCDRR), the Sendai Framework advocates for:

The substantial reduction of disaster risk and losses in lives, livelihoods and health and in the economic, physical, social, cultural and environmental assets of persons, businesses, communities and countries.

Paris Agreement on Climate Change Conference (COP21)

The Paris Agreement is an international treaty with legal obligations aimed at addressing climate change. It was agreed upon by 196 countries during the UN Climate Change Conference (COP21) in Paris, France, on December 12, 2015, and came into effect on November 4, 2016.
The Paris Agreement is a landmark in the multilateral climate change process because, for the first time, a binding agreement brings all nations together to combat climate change and adapt to its effects.
