To enhance Disaster Risk Management in Maharashtra (considering physical, social, cultural, economic, and environmental hazards) to minimize the loss of lives, livelihoods & assets.

Mission

The State Disaster Management Authority of Maharashtra is committed to proactively reduce the risk and impact of disasters through comprehensive planning, capacity building, and collaboration with stakeholders. We strive to:

• Enhance awareness and understanding of potential hazards and their consequences among communities.
• Develop and implement robust disaster preparedness and response plans based on risk assessment and analysis.
• Strengthen the capacity of local authorities, emergency responders, and community organizations to manage disasters effectively.

• Foster partnerships and coordination among government agencies, non-governmental organizations, private sector entities, and civil society to build a unified and coordinated response to disasters.

• Advocate for policies and initiatives that promote resilience, sustainability, and inclusivity in disaster management efforts.
• Continuously evaluate and improve strategies, procedures, and systems based on lessons learned and best practices.

• Empower and support affected individuals and communities in their recovery and rehabilitation efforts, ensuring their dignity, rights, and access to essential services.

• Foster a culture of preparedness, resilience, and solidarity among all segments of society, recognizing that disaster management is a shared responsibility.
