    Landslide Management Plan of Maharashtra

    The Maharashtra State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) carried out a Landslide Susceptibility and Risk Assessment study with a village-wise landslide risk analysis for planning mitigation strategies. It has identified 483 high priority villages for undertaking landslide mitigation works scattered across 11 districts of Ratnagiri, Pune, Satara, Kolhapur, Raigad, Thane, Sindhudurg, Ahmednagar, Nashik, Palghar, and Sangli.

    The Department of Disaster Management, Relief & Rehabilitation, Government of Maharashtra received the prestigious “Disaster Risk Reduction” award at the World Conference on Disaster Management (WCDM) held on 15 January 2025 for an innovative Landslide Management Plan. Dr. Sonia Sethi, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Disaster Management, Relief & Rehabilitation, accepted the honour from the Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Piyush Goyal.
